Marshall Aerospace relocation
Our Aerospace business has been located on its current site on South Works, Newmarket Road since 1937, during which time it has built a reputation as a world leader in military aircraft maintenance and modification.
The opportunity to relocate to a new, purpose-built facility in Cranfield in Bedfordshire will provide the business with the opportunity to modernise and grow whilst still maintaining the majority of its highly skilled workforce.
Having secured outline planning permission in April this year, we expect to begin the transition to Cranfield from 2027 with the intention of completing the move by 2030 at the latest, making way for the development of the airport land.
Whilst our Aerospace business will no longer be in the city, Cambridge will continue to sit at the very heart of the Marshall Group with some of our existing operations remaining, meaning we can continue to provide highly skilled employment as well as a range of training opportunities for generations to come.
Future plans
Having put the Cambridge Airport land forward for inclusion in the Greater Cambridgeshire Local Plan we want to work alongside the people of Cambridge to create an extraordinary new place providing world-class education, employment and housing opportunities.
We will engage extensively with the local community to ensure that Cambridge East is co-created by the people of Cambridge for the people of Cambridge and are excited to be asking residents to share their ideas of what we could achieve together as we build and extraordinary future for our great city.
